The People of Trivium

Everyone left standing after the Fracture, where to find them, and what happened to them.

How the world broke

Trivium means the place where three roads meet. Once, three worlds grew from one great tree, the World-Root: Aurex, the world of light and machines; Halloway, the world of faith and steel; and Umbra, the hidden world between.

When the Root began to die, their rulers tried to fuse the three worlds into one. A choir sang them together, until the song stopped halfway through a line. The worlds crashed and shattered into six broken pieces, drifting in a grey fog called the Scatter. Bane Hallow later built a seventh.

The souls of everyone who died that night are still here, with nowhere to go: the Unsung. The Hallows want to finish the lost song and set them free. The Wardens want to keep them close, and one day undo the Fracture. That question is the war.

Everywhere

Found in every region.

VendorBot 9000

VendorBot 9000

Booster Vendor

Every regionNeutral

Before the Fracture, Aurex had exactly 9,000 of these cheerful vending robots. They all share one mind over a network that somehow survived, so every VendorBot you meet is the same robot, and it remembers you. It still sells the same boosters it sold on the last normal day of the old world, and it refuses to discuss why its stock never runs out.

Central Hub

Once the heart of Aurelion, capital of the world of light. The one piece that landed mostly whole, now everyone's meeting place.

Director Vance

Director Vance

Energy Weapons Dealer

Market RowNeutral

Once the director of weapons at the Aurex Institute, he signed the order to build the Null-Core's power cells. He sells Energy weapons now because "somebody should get some use out of them." Neutral, and proud of it.

Kaelen

Kaelen

Training Yard Instructor

Training YardHallows

A Hallows veteran who survived the first, bloody years of the war, before Bane Hallow's rules. He trains every recruit from either side, because "I'd rather you learn here than die out there."

Vestige

Vestige

Training YardNone

An old Aurex honor-guard robot, the last of a squad of fifty. It still stands its post, waiting for an order to stand down that will never come. The recruits leave it flowers.

Lyra

Spire DistrictNeutral

Born the year after the Fracture, she has never seen the old world. She collects every story about it she can find, and she tells the Hub's version of what happened to anyone who'll listen.

Rook

Rook

Null-Core ChamberNeutral

An Aurex security officer who was on shift in the Null-Core Chamber on the Night of the Fracture. He has guarded the sealed engine ever since, and never says a word about that night.

Outpost

Once Halloway's iron frontier of mines and forges. Now pinned against the lava mountains, holding the line against whatever crawls out of the fog.

Bram

Bram

Forge Master

GateHallows

The last master smith of the Anvil March. He sings the old forge-songs while he works, and the Hallows believe some of those verses are pieces of the lost Requiem. Gruff, and quietly kind to every new Forged.

Junk Yard Jax

Junk Yard Jax

If it fell out of the sky on the Night of the Fracture, Jax has dug it up. He sells scrap to both sides, and keeps a shed full of things he's afraid to sell to either.

Val

Val

Shanty RowNeutral

Once the leader of an Outpost gang, now the one who keeps the other gangs in line. She's outlasted every boss who ever came through Shanty Row. She owes Bram her life, and won't say how.

He has rebuilt the Barricade eleven times. He doesn't care about the war, only about what comes out of the Scatter at night. "Hallow, Warden, whatever. The fog doesn't ask."

A junior researcher running her own experiments on the side, mostly so Dr. Thorne doesn't ask what she's doing with the readings. She's Subject 09's only friend.

Byte Size

Byte Size

Core ChamberNeutral

A palm-sized medical drone that patches up anyone who looks half as fried as the reactor sounds. Gearbox built it as a gift for Chloe.
